without, all these
things are done in parables:

Mat
9:10 And it came to
pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners
came and sat down with him and his disciples.
Mat 9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why
eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
Mat 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be
whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
Mat 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not
sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Mat 9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John,
saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
Mat 9:16 No man putteth a piece of new
cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from
the garment, and the rent is made worse.

In other words:
The
old system of Jewish priests teaching God’s rules of conduct and sacrifices at the
temple as payment for violations thereof is so corrupt he won’t mend it with
his new system, his kingdom, his church, his body of believers and his
sacrifice on the cross.
[Jesus
volunteered this parable in response to an unrelated question urged by a group
of Jewish religious leaders (scribes and Pharisees). There is no hint that they
comprehended it in the least.]

Sermon on the Mount Near Capernaum
Mat 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when
he was set, his disciples came unto him:
Mat 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that
is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it
under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in
the house.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that
they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 5:14 Ye
(Jesus’ disciples (Mat 5:1-2))are the light of the world. A city that is set
on an hill cannot be hid.

creditability by your actions.

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise
man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and
beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of
mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and
beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine,
and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house(earthly

In other words:
Jesus told this
parable to his disciples as part of his “Sermon on the Mount”. It is basically instructions in conduct for
those who enlist in his elite band of apostles and disciples. The penalty for sloth in following these
instructions is quite severe, eternity separated from God.

5. The Creditor and the Two Debtors -
Luke
Luk 7:24 And
when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people
concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken
with the wind?

what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which
are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.

what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than
a prophet.

is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my
messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

Luk 7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five
hundred pence, and the other fifty.

when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore,
which of them will love him most?
Luk 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he,
to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

Pharisee, possibly the father of Judas (both seem to be from
Capernaum) (Jer 22:22) (Eze 3:17-18) (Matthew 11:23-25)), and the other fifty
(Mary sister of Lazarus; she anointed Jesus and wiped his
feet with her hair twice. The identification comes before she
did it the second time. (John 11:2) (John 12:3)).

In other words:
Simon as a
religious leader bears responsibility not only for his own sins but also shares
responsibility for the sins of those who he misleads. If and when he recognizes his sin, repents and puts his trust in
Jesus, he will “love him the most”.

6. Candle Under a
Bushel (second version) - Luke
At Capernaum
Luk 11:29 And when the people were gathered thick
together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and
there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Luk 11:30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites,
so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
Luk 11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the
judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from
the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a
greater than Solomon is
here.
Luk 11:32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the
judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the
preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

(Jesus), when he hath lighted a candle
(teaches his twelve disciples), putteth it
in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick
(the church, the body of Christ here on earth (Rev 1:13,
20)), that they which
come (they that open the door and let Jesus’
message into their heart (Rev 3:20)) in may see the light
(the gospel of the kingdom and the men should repent (Mat
10:27) (Mark 6:12) (Luke 9:2)).
Luk 11:34 The light of the body (the illuminator of the body (Eph 1:18)
) is the eye (understanding
(Eph 1:18)): therefore when thine eye is single
(clear (Strong’s Greek Dictionary)), thy whole body also is full of light
(full of the gospel of the kingdom and goodworks (Acts 9:36)); but when thine eye is
evil, thy body also is full of darkness (moral
depravity (Rom 13:12)).
Luk 11:35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in
thee be not darkness.
Luk 11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light,
having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright

Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

that cross will be a Samaritan, whom you despise.

In other words:
Jesus uses this “certain rich man” in three
parables: this one “The Rich Fool”, “The Unjust Steward”, and “The Rich Man and
Lazarus”. As a chief priest he was no
doubt well versed in scripture and so received ample warning from Isaiah,
Jeremiah, and Jesus himself in his sermon condemning the whole crowd which was
running the temple (Matthew chapter 23). Three days later this man together with the rest of his crew of scribes
and Pharisees had Jesus crucified.

Luk 14:31 Or what king, going to make war
against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able
with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

fifty.

unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are
in their generation wiser than the children of light.

yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they

In other words:
First comes this parable about the gift of the indwelling
of the Holy Spirit that Jesus will shortly after his resurrection confer on ten
of his apostles. The Holly Spirit is
infinite and does not come more to some and less to others. A few days later Jesus relates the parable
of the “talents”. That has to do with
the conferring of spiritual gifts. These do come in packages of varying amounts. The point of both parables is that the apostles will be judged
for their actions in the use of these gifts. Sloth in the use of Spiritual gifts is penalized more severely than
sloth practiced by one indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Which leads one to think that a person who receives water baptism
a la John the Baptist for repentance of sin can receive spiritual gifts prior
to (or if ever) receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the time of taking
Jesus as a personal savior.

from the Lord to his servants to not let down on their jobs. There is a two fold reason to be
faithful. The salvation message will be
thereby better spread to a lost and dieing world and to identify the faithful
servants for even greater positions of service in the spiritual realm.

In other words:
Those
chosen as apostles and disciples are to be blessed with spiritual powers of
different types and amounts. They are
expected to use these powers in spreading the gospel and to increase them
through exercising faith, fasting and prayer. Those that use these powers well and increase them will be blessed with
further responsibilities in heaven. Those who are slothful with their spiritual gifts will have them taken
away and (harsh as it may seem) will them selves be rejected from heaven.

1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was
Christ.
Isa 56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join
themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be
his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh
hold of my covenant;
Isa 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain,

be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
2Co 5:3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be
found naked.
2Co 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:
not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be
swallowed up of life.
2Co 5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame
thing is God, who also hath
given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Isa 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time

Isa 49:9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go
forth; to them that are
in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
