Doctrines Concerning

God, The Holy Spirit

E. At the Rapture, the work of the Holy Spirit to restrain the work of Satan will cease.

2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Personal Opinion:

How will I ever sort this out?  A Bible search for the word "Rapture" comes up with zero verses.

Jesus quite clearly is preparing his followers for an event to take place in the rather near future, within the life time of some of his hearers.  It seems to involve the destruction of the temple and the end of the priesthood of the Levites.  That old system, He seems to say, will be replaced by a priesthood of believers.

Paul writes while that revolution is in transition.  The priesthood of believers has been established by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus but the old priesthood and temple have not yet been destroyed.

John writes Revelation and maybe his Gospel after the destruction of the temple and the disbanding of the Jewish priesthood system.

John and Paul seem to have new information revealed to them by Jesus after his earthly ministry.

I will have to keep my eyes open when reading the Gospels to see if Jesus gave some hints of events to take place after the destruction of the temple.

Maybe also there are some Old Testament hints.

I'm also confused in that Jesus refers to the destruction of His body as the destruction of "this temple".
