Doctrines Concerning

God, The Father

D. That the Father determined and directed the plan of redemption by sending His Son, Jesus Christ,
to die for sinful man.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 20:21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

2Co 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Heb 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

1Jn 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

Personal Opinion:

Today I read in Scientific American Magazine that it is beginning to be an accepted fact of physics that future events can affect current happenings.

And now I read in John 3 that Jesus told Nicodemus to put his faith in a future event - His death on the cross - to assure his (Nick's) salvation.

This would give hope to the belief that it is never too late to pray.  If done in faith, it can be just as effectual regardless of the timing.

I would not go so far as to say we should pray to over-turn events which we know for a fact have already taken place.  But if we are in the dark as to the timing, God is not limited in answering past, present or future prayers.

Time means nothing to God.
