Verbal Inspiration - The very words of Scripture in the original autographs were inspired by God.

2Sa 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

Jer 1:9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

Jer 36:1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

Jer 36:2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Personal Opinion:

It is no great leap of faith to accept the original autographs of scripture as God inspired.

Also, it would not seem to me to be that much further a stretch to believe that a translation into a different language or a modernized version would have God's blessing and could be considered to be God inspired.  Surely correct reading of scripture is a spiritual gift.  Therefore to read scripture in the original and translate it into a different language is just as much an act requiring the aid of the Holy Ghost.  The trick is to determine if the translator is a Godly person.
