Authoritative — The words of Scripture carry with them the power, influence and authority of God.

 

Personal Opinion:

Of course whatever is written by God comes with the power, influence, and authority of God.

But oh, my. How do we know that the committee that met way back when to compile my particular translation did the job in a truly honest manner?

I hear so much flack about their motives and about how maybe some perfect, authentic, God inspired scripture was not even available for consideration; was hidden in some desert cave.

My only answer is that the most powerful entity in existence was concerned that I have available his uncorrupted word.  I have complete faith that he had the power and in fact did a perfect job in seeing that what he will actually happened.  To say it didn't lessens our concept of his holiness.
